Wool Hand Tufted Rugs and Area Rugs collection
The handmade hand tufted wool rugs collection I from Agence Cholleton
The Agence Cholleton's hand tufted wool rugs collection is produced using exclusively yarn from 100% New Zealand wool origin and pile weight per m² is over 3.25kgs or 84oz per square Yard, total weight being around 150oz per square yard
Hand-tufted rugs are handmade using a "Tufting gun": a hand-operated tool that punches strands of wool into a canvas stretched on a frame onto the design of the rug has been drawn before. The worker will then fills in the pattern with the appropriate color wool. Once the rug design is fully piled (and this can take as little as four or five days for a 9' x 12' wool rug), the rug is removed from the frame and a jute or cotton fabric is glued to the back of the rug
Pile height is from ±10 to ±12mm ( ± .400' to ± .500' pile height) according to each rugs design and texture, standard sizes (Area rugs made in India are usually manufactured in measurements following the metric system) are the following ones :
